Our Beginnings

The Forgotten International is an effort on the part of Professor Thomas A. Nazario
at the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Over the past 30 years Professor Nazario has worked in a variety of ways to help identify the needs and defend the rights of
children, not only here in the United States, but worldwide.  In doing so he has visited children who have been orphaned by
AIDS in Botswana, imprisoned in jails in Rwanda, lived in sewers in Romania, sold into sexual slavery in Thailand, and
escaped oppression in Tibet only to live in poverty as refugees in India and Nepal.

This initiative is largely the result of his international work with the United Nations, the U.S. State Department, and Human
Rights Watch.

TFI is presently staffed by a small group of dedicated volunteers who bring with them a variety of experiences and who are
committed to making a positive change in the world around them.

The Forgotten International, founded in 2007, is in part the result of
meeting these children and others like them throughout the world who would
not survive but for the kindness and generosity of others.
